11/30/2006 TraceSecurity announced that TraceAuthenticate, its multi-factor authentication solution, seamlessly interfaces with the PCU Internet Banking solution from USERS Incorporated, a business unit of Fiserv Inc. (Nasdaq: FISV). TraceSecurity is a leading provider of on-demand security compliance management solutions.
TraceAuthenticate is an appliance-based solution that enables financial institutions to comply with FFIEC guidelines for multi-factor authentication to reduce exposure to risk during Internet banking transactions by Dec. 31, 2006. It provides consumers the added protection of two-factor authentication, which helps eliminate the growing threat of account hijacking and Internet fraud. It is easily managed and has minimal impact to consumers because it is installed at the financial institution and does not require users to load any additional software. In addition, a single TraceAuthenticate server can be used to support multiple financial institutions, allowing for simple installation and support of CUSO’s and co-location sites.
“We’re pleased that TraceAuthenticate is now 100 percent compatible with USERS’ online banking application because now even more financial institutions and consumers can benefit from it,” said Jim Stickley, CTO of TraceSecurity. “This type of solution is extremely cost-effective, user-friendly and is a practical alternative to other multi-factor authentication tools such as tokens, key fobs and bingo cards. TraceAuthenticate is currently compatible with most Internet banking applications including Symitar, Fidelity IFS, Open Solutions as well as numerous homegrown solutions."
TraceAuthenticate includes a hybrid technology that gives financial institutions the option of “strong authentication” by installing an add-on toolbar, called TraceAssure. It provides consumers an even greater level of Internet security protection, guarding against malicious phishing, spear phishing, pharming and man-in-the-middle attacks. Together, TraceAuthenticate and TraceAssure validate the authenticity of a Web site as well as the identity of the end user.
“The FFIEC deadline for multi-factor authentication is rapidly approaching, and financial institutions need a feasible and effective solution as quickly as possible,“ said Pete Stewart, CEO of TraceSecurity. “Our average installation time is one week from when the contract is signed, and the implementation is seamless and efficient. TraceSecurity is committed to giving financial institutions the tools they need to make a positive difference in their marketplace.”
Stewart continued, “Although TraceSecurity does not have a partnership with USERS, we have strategic alliances with many other prominent industry organizations such as CUNA. In fact, TraceAuthenticate is CUNA Strategic Services’ only recommended multi-factor solution.”
