Baton Rouge, Louisiana — November 16, 2010
Peter Stewart, President and CEO of TraceSecurity, has been selected to address the 2010 Cloud Security Alliance Congress on the subject of aligning security and compliance within highly regulated industries. Conference organizers selected Stewart based on TraceSecurity’s track record and expertise in developing cloud-based IT security compliance and risk management solutions.
The Cloud Security Alliance, the world's leading organization on cloud security, in association with the MIS Training Institute, have assembled top experts and industry stakeholders to discuss the state of cloud security and best practice for cloud computing during a two event in November, 2010. The conference will consist of educational tracks centered around Legal and Compliance Issues, Federal Management and Security and Securing the Cloud.
In his presentation on Tuesday, November 16th, Pete Stewart will describe the obstacles to compliance that currently exist within the cloud computing industry, as well as detail the major benefits companies receive by working “in the cloud”.
The term “Cloud Computing” commonly refers to delivering resources, services or information via web-based software. In broader terms, cloud computing solutions can serve as a stand-alone technology infrastructure companies may use to supplement, or even replace, several manual business functions.
Stewart is concerned that “despite any official compliance regulation from Federal agencies, we are seeing an explosion of companies of all sizes quickly adopting cloud services on a global basis.”
Stewart points out that official guidance from the Federal Government on cloud computing issues has only surfaced in recent months with the release of a draft of the “Proposed Security Assessment and Authorization for U.S. Government Cloud Computing”.
“My primary goal at the upcoming Cloud Security Alliance Congress is to sound the alarm that our nation is at risk,” remarks Stewart. “Federal and State governments need to respond quickly in order to protect our organizations and corporations from potential security risks.”
The Cloud Security Alliance is a non-profit organization formed to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing, and provide education on the uses of Cloud Computing to help secure all other forms of computing.
